Merchandise.
The Script have a website which allows fans to view everything from news about the band to the band's music store. Merchandise for the Script their synergy and colour scheme. The Script are a similar band so looking at this band will help my similar product research and institutional research. This website is an UK website as the band is Irish band however the merchandise can be shipped all over the world, which shows the band have a huge fan base. Becka and I think that if we brought out a merchandise range for the band local people who know them would definitely buy the products to support them. The band have already designed and worn band t-shirts so this is something we could consider producing more of for fans. This is something Becka and I could do to promote the band further. As they already already have their own colour scheme the merchandise could match this, to make the band's image recognisable.
Colour Scheme / Synergy.
Colour Scheme for Raw Kadence.
The band, Raw Kadence, already have an existing image which revolves around the colour yellow. The bands website has a range of colours, shades of yellow, orange, black and white. If we were to make our own website we would have to consider their existing website and adverts so that as soon as people saw it, they would recognise it was the band. We could change the colour scheme of the website but keep the band logo the same so that people would still know it was them.

Analysed Lyrics - Don't you worry child.
Becka and I have analysed the original lyrics and came up with some ideas for what type of shots we can create and possible locations.
(GROUP POST) Institutional Research - Music Video Channels.
Youtube is the most well know global institution and the commonly used music video site there is. You can literally find any music video you want in a matter of seconds. You can even make an account in order to create your own playlists to listen to any music you wish.
(GROUP POST) Institutional Research - Music Video Channels.
iTunes are a big institution that are owned by Apple, a worldwide and very well known company. iTunes are well known for selling digital copies of singles and albums which is why they are so popular, they also sell music videos as well as just audio. More people now buy digital copies of music which has resulted in companies such as HMV going into liquidation because there aren't many sales on physical copies of songs. Another reason why iTunes is so popular is because when people buy a physical copy of a CD, they may not want to listen to all songs whereas with iTunes you can buy the songs individually.
(GROUP POST) Institutional Research - Music Video Channels.
MTV is by far the most well known and popular music video channel. It advertises new and existing stars and promotes their music videos. On the TV channel there is certain times when they play the latest and most popular videos which are also available to watch online.
(GROUP POST) Institutional Research - Music Video Channels.
Viva is a british movie channel that shows the most popular music videos in the charts. They also have showings that are dedicated to specific artists.

Don't You Worry Child lyrics.
This is the original version of the song, Raw Kadence have created a personal rap to their version.
"Don't You Worry Child"
"Don't You Worry Child"
(feat. John Martin)
There was a time
I used to look into my father's eyes.
In a happy home
I was a king, I had a golden throne.
Those days are gone,
Now the memory's on the wall.
I hear the songs
From the places where I was born.
Upon a hill across a blue lake,
That's where I had my first heartbreak.
I still remember how it all changed.
My father said,
"Don't you worry, don't you worry, child.
See heaven's got a plan for you.
Don't you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!
"Don't you worry, don't you worry, child.
See heaven's got a plan for you.
Don't you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!
There was a time
I met a girl of a different kind.
We ruled the world,
I thought I'd never lose her out of sight.
We were so young,
I think of her now and then.
I still hear the songs
Reminding me of a friend.
Upon a hill across a blue lake,
That's where I had my first heartbreak.
I still remember how it all changed.
My father said,
"Don't you worry, don't you worry, child.
See heaven's got a plan for you.
Don't you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!
Oh, oh, oh!
Oh, oh, oh!
See heaven's got a plan for you

The Band Profile.
The band we are working with, Raw Kadence are an up and coming band based in North Lincolnshire who formed earlier this year although they have individually sang and performed before. It is made up from singer Ashleigh Scotcher, singer/songwriter Alex (Crez) Creswell, guitar/vocals Luke West and guitar/vocals Lloyd Wilkinson. They are also sometimes accompanied by Jay Tyrer, a singer. The band travel all over, performing at gigs and competitions and have been very successful. Also the band already have an identity and are locally well known so in order to promote them we will consider their existing identity when making our music video and digi-pak by keeping the colour scheme (Yellow) the same and other characteristics.

Issues.
We had some issues with the band that we're working with as they didn't email us the lyrics and mp3. However they have now got back to us and are currently sending us the mp3 and lyrics for their original song "Supernatural" and also for a cover they did of "Don't you worry child" - Swedish House Mafia. So we are going to analyse the original lyrics of 'Don't you worry child', then analyse the other lyrics when we have them.
Narrative Characters. - Initial Idea.
As well as performance basing our music video we have decided to use narrative base too. For performance base we will obviously have shots of the band singing, and for the concept based we are going to use actors. For characters we have a few potential people we could use:
- My Sister, Kate.
- Kate's boyfriend - Tom.
- And we could also ask friends.

Target Audience. - Reminder.
Raw Kadence are young themselves, ranging up to the age of 20 and already target their music to a young adult audience so, we shall be keeping the target audience fairly the same. Targeting a video at this age group will make it easier for us to produce because we are a similar age and have some idea of what people our age would want to see. Although we are thinking of a young adult audience, we will probably target the video at people up to the age of 30 because the storyline we have in mind would be relatable for that age group. Raw Kadence are heavily promoted on social network sites with the help of their friends who are of a similar age and are able to share the bands posts.

Possible song choice.
Becka and I have decided that it would be best if we asked the band to perform an original song. We believe that this would be best because there are more benefits for us and the band. By performing an original song the band are able to promote themselves with our video and also it will be easier for them to perform a song they know. The band are very talented and have a good songwriter and great ideas so this is why we think it would be best.
Here are some of the possible songs:

(GROUP POST) Institutional Research - Warner.
'Warner Music Group' who are also known as 'Warner Music' are a global American record company which was founded in 1958 and are headquartered in New York. The company are very well known and operate with some of the largest and most successful recording labels in the world. The music artists vary from Ed Sheeran to Muse but most of the artists sing a similar genre. I think a record company this large would not be interested in a small, fairly unknown band but it would be amazing if eventually the band could be signed with a company so big.
(GROUP POST) Institutional Research - Classification.
Recently there was a article published about the classification of music videos. At the moment a music video does not have to be over viewed by the BBFC (British board of film classification) but that is possibly set to change soon because of the concern that children are exposed to graphic imagery. On the BBFC website it says 'Under the Video Recordings Act 1984, some video content does not need to be rated by the BBFC' but a pilot scheme is being introduced on Friday 3rd October 2014 to hopefully initiate age ratings on all music videos. Although the pilot is imminent, viewers of videos will see no difference until the system is fully in place.
Similarly to film trailers, the BBFC will review music videos and rate them on age suitability, ranging from PG to 18.
There has been mixed responses from this, a few relieved parents but some disgruntled artists. Some people have said that age ratings are appropriate because so many underage minors have access to violent and sexual content in music videos but others have disagreed saying it will only provoke some artists to make more provocative videos. Companies such as 'YouTube', 'Universal' and 'Vevo' are to support the system and have all agreed to sign up but the pilot will only effect UK Artists.

(GROUP POST) Institutional Research - Columbia.
'Columbia' record company are a subsidiary of Sony so they are able to expand and go global. The music is varied from Adele to Bob Dylan and Beyonce to Ella Henderson, and so this means their target audiences are vast and varied too. I personally think Columbia would be a great company to sign the band because they already manage young bands such as Little Mix and One Direction who are both successful. Also because Columbia are a subsidiary of Sony they would be able to largely promote the band and make them well known.

Similar Product Research: Tom Odell - Another Love.
Link to Another Love - Tom Odell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwpMEbgC7DA
I have chosen to analyse this song as the genre is similar to Raw Kadence and it is the type of music video Becka and I are looking to produce.
Like other videos I have looked at, this video is very dully coloured. This links to the genre of music and the artist. The video starts with an extreme close up of Tom Odell, which zooms it whilst focused on him, and the shot gets lighter and lighter when the shot zooms out more and more, this shot is effective and Becka and I could do it. This video is performance based and narrative based at the same time, as an actor is with him and acting around him, having a conversation with him whilst he is performing. The shots in this video are all continuous and no transitions are used however the actor keeps leaving the shot and re-entering using fades and other techniques. This is effective and also seems easy to do so Becka and I could use this idea. This video seems to have hand-held camera shots as well as steady-cam. The lighting changes in this video throughout the instrumental this is something myself and Becka can do in our video.
I have been inspired by these use of close ups.
The lighting is subtle and the mise en scene desaturated. This inspired my creativity and i like the props: flowers and mirror.

This song is a similar genre to the song Becka and I are looking to produce a music video for, Don't You Worry Child - performed by Raw Kadence. I'm going to analysis the ASL for Youth by Daughter to help myself and Becka when filming our video. The ASL for songs of this genre is usually very long, and slow transitions are used to relate to the music. However when the drums are introduced the shot length changes and becomes a lot shorter to match the bass. This is a key aspect in making a music video and it is something Becka and I need to look at when creating our own.
The music video for "Youth" is very dull and in black and white - this also links to the genre of the song. Looking at some of the bands other songs, I notice that not all their songs are performed in black and white. The video starts with a mid shot of her playing her bass, and as the band we are promoting play their own instruments this is an aspect to look further at. Throughout the whole video a spotlight is shining through the band whilst performing.

A Great Big World featuring Christina Aguilera - Say Something.
I have chosen to analyse this song as it is the similar Genre and almost sounds acoustic which is what Becka and I are looking at to produce. The video starts by fading the light, this has been done to link with the genre and create the atmosphere. Then as the music starts to play the piano comes into the centre screen. This video is performance based and concept based, supporting Sven E Carlson's music video theory.
She is simply dressed and i like this costume. i would like to keep the mise en scene fairly simple and uncluttered.
She has her hair tied back and minimalist make up. This has inspired my creativity as i can now see how simple can be effective.

Similar Product Research: 5 Seconds Of Summer - Amnesia.
I have chosen to analyse Amnesia because the video uses flashbacks which is what Becka and I are looking to do. Between sad individual shots of the band members, flashbacks to a happier time are included. There's the four of them and four female friends playing by a pool, going for a joy ride in a beat up old car and playing around in a grocery store parking lot. The music video is a fitting tribute to a lost love, with an equal balance between love new and lost. The lost love is the context we are looking to base our music video on. The flashbacks in this music video aren't in monochrome however, and the ones in our music video will be, as we think it gives the flashback more effect.
I like this shot as he is left of frame.
This group shot is quite messy and there is
too much going on. I think we will avoid this shot type.
Again, this is a group shot and apart from the performance shots, i think we will probably plan for two shots or individual shots.
I really like the lighting on this shot and will think about this as a shot for our lead singer.
The water idea has inspired us greatly. It is a superb signifier and connotes depth and feeling. Barthes suggests codes signify different meanings and it will be interesting to see if our TA has a negotiated or oppositional reading. [Hall]

Update.
As we only have the lyrics for 'Don't you worry child', Becka and I have decided to produce a music video for this song. We have came up with a list of potential ideas for the video, such as locations and what type of shots we want to include.

Initial Target Audience.
Raw Kadence are young themselves, ranging up to the age of 20 and already target their music to a young adult audience so, we shall be keeping the target audience fairly the same. Update - Our Song Choice.
Becka and I have a choice of two songs, a cover and an original song that the band wrote themselves. We have chosen to focus on both songs at the moments as we are unsure of which song will work best. We messaged the band to inform them this is what we intend to do and they are going to send us a MP3 of both songs and also the lyrics so we can start to analyse.
The two songs are:
Supernatural (original) - https://soundcloud.com/rawkadenceofficialmusic/supernatural
Don't you worry child (cover) - https://soundcloud.com/rawkadenceofficialmusic/swedish-house-mafia-dont-you-worry-child-raw-kadence-cover
